Herbalicious Ajwain (اجوائن کا شہد)

Herbalicious Ajwain is honey from the small white flowers of the ajwain (carom) plant, gathered in the hills of Swat. In Urdu it is اجوائن کا شہد (ajwain ka shehad, also spelt ajwain ka shahad). It is not honey mixed with ajwain seeds: the herbal character comes entirely from the nectar the bees collected.

The result is light golden in colour, with a mild sweetness and a gentle, warm herbal note that lingers. Many people expect a dark, heavy honey and are surprised by how light it is.

We cold-extract Herbalicious Ajwain and never heat it, so its delicate aroma stays intact. Nothing is added.

How to enjoy it

It shines in warm drinks: a teaspoon in warm water with lemon in the morning, or in mint tea after dinner. It also works in savoury glazes for chicken and roasted vegetables.

Storage and crystallisation

Store at room temperature with the lid tightly closed, away from sunlight. Like all raw honey, it will crystallise in time. Stand the jar in warm water to soften it. Crystals are natural and do not change the taste.

Questions

Does it taste strongly of ajwain? No. The ajwain note is gentle and herbal, much softer than the seeds themselves.

Is anything added to create the flavour? No. The flavour comes only from the ajwain flowers.

Can babies have it? No. Honey of any kind should not be given to babies under 12 months.
